Bilingual Loans Officer – Business and Personal (Ottawa, Ontario)

About the Position

OCLF is looking for a Bilingual Loans Officer (English, French) responsible for analyzing and assessing business proposals from entrepreneurs and businesses. Duties include assisting clients in the preparation of loan applications, reviewing business plans and cash flow projections, making recommendations to the Director of Lending Operations regarding loan proposals and small business start-up counselling. The Loans Officer may also deliver presentations to a diverse audience to enhance awareness of OCLF products and services and entrepreneurship. The ideal candidate will:

  • Be autonomous and independent
  • Have experience in reviewing business plans
  • Have knowledge of the Canadian credit and lending system
  • Be comfortable working in various locations

Duties

  1. Lending: Submit loan applications, review and update files, promote sale of loan products and services, interview applicants for loans, complete credit and loan documentation and recommend applications for approval or rejection
  2. Client service: Meet with client’s one-on-one, conduct follow up. Research and evaluate loan applicant’s financial status, references, credit and ability to repay loan. Assist clients by proposing solutions to address financial objectives
  3. Facilitation: Deliver OCLF presentations on products and entrepreneurship
  4. Reporting: Collect client data, input data and conduct evaluations; prepare summary reports and documentation
  5. Promotion: Explain OCLF services to clients

Qualifications and Competencies

  • University degree or college diploma in Business or Commerce supplemented with at least three years of experience with small business lending or credit granting. Lending experience and knowledge would be assets but are not requirements
  • Native proficiency in English or French with native-like proficiency in the other language
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and intercultural skills
  • Proven ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Applicants must be computer literate, comfortable with MS Office

Qualities

  • Understand small business management and be willing to travel within Ottawa
  • Punctual, Attention to detail and Organized
  • Ability to represent OCLF

Bilingual Facilitators in Credit Literacy and Economic Empowerment

About the Position

OCLF is looking for BilingualFacilitators (English, French) to deliver OCLF workshops to newcomers at our partner locations, mainly through partnering LINC (Language Instructions for Newcomers to Canada) programs, settlement agencies, and integration programs. The workshop covers how the Canadian credit system works and provides participants with tools and resources to empower them to make informed credit choices and improve their economic situation. The engagement will be ongoing with peak delivery periods in the fall, winter, and spring. The ideal candidate will:

  • Be autonomous and independent
  • Have experience in teaching ESL or group facilitation
  • Have knowledge of the Canadian credit system
  • Be comfortable working in various locations across the City

Duties

  1. Facilitation: Deliver OCLF workshops on credit and, occasionally, other related topics
  2. Reporting: Collect client data and conduct evaluations
  3. Promotion: Explain OCLF services to clients

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Post-secondary education and experience in a related field;
  • Native proficiency in English or French with native-like proficiency in the other language;
  • Knowledge of Canadian credit system;
  • Experience in group facilitation and understanding of adult learning principles;
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills;
  • Proven ability to take initiative and work independently.
