About OCLF
The Ottawa Community Loan Fund (OCLF) is a non-profit organization providing micro loans for business and professional development purposes, as well as workshops on financial literacy, with a focus on credit, and entrepreneurship. In addition, OCLF provides one-on-one consultations regarding credit, loans, and business plan development.

About the Position
OCLF is looking for a part-time Arabic-speaking Facilitator with fluency in English to deliver a series of workshops to Arabic-speaking newcomers, mainly Syrian refugees. The workshops cover, 1) Credit in Canada; 2) Budgeting; and 3) Introduction to Entrepreneurship. The engagement will be until March 31st 2018 with a possibility of extension depending on funding. The ideal candidate will:
✓ Be able to work flexible hours (evening facilitation anticipated)
✓ Be comfortable working in various locations with various partners
✓ Have knowledge of both the Canadian and Syrian/Middle-Eastern credit systems

Facilitation: Deliver OCLF workshops on credit, budgeting and entrepreneurship in Arabic.
Coordination: Coordinate schedules with community partners.
Client Service: Conduct follow-ups by phone.
Reporting: Input data and provide narrative reports as needed.
Administrative Duties: Filing and other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Promotion: Explain OCLF services to clients.


Qualifications and Competencies
– Post-secondary education and experience in a related field;
– Knowledge of Canadian Banking/credit system, and/or newcomer settlement process, and/or entrepreneurship;
– Experience in group facilitation and understanding of adult learning principles;
– Proficiency in English and Arabic is required, French is a strong asset;
– Strong presentation, writing and organizational skills;
– Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills;
– Proven ability to take initiative, and work independently;
– Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel and PowerPoint).
